I’m not using Linux or something, just trying to debug a STM32F411RE (Nucleo-F411RE).

This “issue” happens when the debugger wants to jump from the main.cpp to my function inside the file BME280.cpp.

Your link helped remove VisualGDB.

But after deleting it my Visual Studio was freezing and closing automatically when I opened a project so I repaired it. Then it worked again.

So I installed VisualGDB again but all the icons are still missing (also under Help/ the VisualGDB isn’t there for version number, etc.)

But VisualGDB is listed in my extensions

I tried your suggestions but without any success. It still only displays the @brief informations.

Is it because I’ve created the header with /* */ instead of ‘//’?

And would it be possible to add a feature maybe inside Tools/Options/VisualGDB/IntelliSense where you can enter characters which should be ignored?

That would be a huge relief because with the “*” it looks much cleaner in Visual Studio.

See “screenshot #1” for the header which you suggested (withou ‘*’).

 

Update: Now the parameter infos are weirder. It now displays the @brief informations and the @retval info instead of the @params. See screenshot #2

And the function info is also weird now: It first displays the @brief informations then the @retval info and first at the end the @params info (see screenshot #3)

You could try to locate the error which is triggering this problem and tell the VisualGDB team the exact steps to reproduce it and maybe they can do something about this/improve it (no promise)

I found this from keil: http://www.keil.com/support/man/docs/armerr/armerr_dom1365070466238.htm (see error number #1114)

“by the way, in the project, there is no CMSIS package or other keil run-time enviironment.” This is because you don’t have the Custom Edition or higher. You have to edit it via the makefile in your project folder.

Update: After a restart of Visual Studio it was working so you can close the thread. Maybe it was a glitch or something

I managed to install it manually.

It wasn’t the antivirus because even with it turned off the download wasn’t starting but the unpacking of the XZ unpacker worked even with the antivirus on so don’t know why it wouldn’t download.

Would it also be possible to add this feature (open the serial monitor withouth programming/debugging) for normal Embedded projects? (In my case for STMs)

This fix unfortunately opened another problem…again ^^

If I make a pointer to this class lets say in the main.cpp (in the repro project it is LEDBlink.cpp) and try to access the public functions/structs I can select the private function “Private_Func()” and this shouldn’t work. Also I can’t see my public structs, only my public funtion.

I’m sending you the repro project again over the support.
