ParticipantJust right-click on a *.rar file and set winrar as default application to open *.rar files again!
After mouting an ISO by right-clicking WinCDEmu ist default one…that cause the problem.
OS: WindowsXP-SP3Anonymous
ParticipantI just realized my request for zip/7z/rar support was kind of stupid. π I wanted to say thanks for this fantastic program, Bazis! I think the only way you could make this program better is if you update the portable version and synchronize it with the installable version, then maybe add support for ISZ and MDX (compressed MDS/MDF images)(not a big want, but the community may want it). I have started a project on SourceForge called Any2ISO, because I wanted to create a free, open-source alternative to AnyToISO, but if you would like, as I develop that program, you can integrate the disc image converter code into WinCDEmu. So when you right-click on an image that isn’t an ISO, it will have an option to convert it to an ISO. It’s up to you, though. My program will probably end up with it’s own GUI, but until I flesh out a prototype, I don’t know. Lemme know what you think. π

ParticipantThe portable version don’t have this problem because don’t have the extension association o new entry in contex menu ( WinCDEmuContextMenu.dll )
That’s all.Anonymous
ParticipantHere is a work around: download and install iso recorder. It is an msi installation file that appears to have been an off shoot from a microsoft project that never got implemented.
isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htmI think even the microsoft team recommends this utility on their support page.
Alternatively you can use winarchiever or imgburn.com/index.php?act=screenshots

I forgot to mention that I only have one user on my computer, and I still have this problem; but the portable version has not had this problem yet.

ParticipantHi.
IΒ΄m not expert but have you turn off the UAC and run the installer as administrator? Is the install user machine administrator?

ParticipantHI,
i have the same problem here. Playing a movie from a mounted DVD-ISO with MediaPlayerClassic or even Windows Media Player lets WinCDEmu stopp working. You cannot dismount the ISO completely. The Imagename disappears after the drive letter. The drive cannot be opened againg in explorer.
System-Shutdown hangs. Even mounting another ISO does not work anymore.
Using VLC-Media-Player this problem does not occur! But VLC-Media Player does not play all my ISOs. That’s why I prefer MediaPlayer Classic. Can you please solve the problem?
Kind regards

ParticipantI would love if there was a way of choosing which file extension I want WinCDEmu to take control of.

ParticipantI’ve got the same issue.
I’ve uninstalled WinCDemu and Universal Extractor (WinCDEmu does not completely uninstall).
Installed Universal Extractor, everything is associated properly
install winCDemu, and it overrides all of UE’s extensions.I’m just going to check out alternatives to WinCDEmu and see if it is the cause.
