I have changed it to clang and I can see the clang formatting icon and options. I don’t immediately see a way to resolve this minor issue. I am using these arrays to design 1 bit/pixel bitmap arrays in code and it is much easier when I do not have to re-align them if I have pasted, or attempted to format a selection.

I am not assuming there is a way around this..

    Thanks for your reply !

Not knowing what the ‘formatting icon’ looks like I checked the Text Editor | C/C++ (Visual GDB) formatting setting and it is set to SysProgsFormat

While working on GDB projects I can watch the memory leak in Task manager. It doesn’t budge in other projects. I am anxious to solve this. Do you have any suggestions as to where I might look to track this down?

    STEPS:

    Launch Visual Studio.

    Begin working.

Updated and reinstalled VS2017. Still restarts every half hour or so.

Installed VS2019. Same thing. It is VGDB. No doubt.

I write C# with this same system and I never see that problem.

Sometimes I lose work. Sometimes it recovers files. Either way, makes daily work very difficult.

Then, a couple of days later. It started acting up again.

    Here’s a little more info.

I uninstalled VGDB and downloaded 5.4r5-trial.msi.

I installed that and reloaded my project.

It built, linked and downloaded so fast I was almost in tears!

Then, after working for about an hour or so.. it slowly began to take longer and longer to start a debug session and to stop it. Now, I am right back where I was this morning. Torture.

Does this shed any light? An issue I can fix?

This occurs with any file. Never happens when coding C#. I’ll try to look for more clues as I work.  Thanks for your response!

I don’t know if there is anything different when working in C#/WPF but it only occurs when using VGDB. I’ve been living with it.  I thought I would send this log just in case.

Excellent! I knew if we both stuck it out there would be a solution somewhere! I will try this now and post results.

So.. first in 7 years? 🙂
