    I mean changing the standard internal flash memory length and address that is in the linker file by default, not adding extra memory.

    How do I enable this feature?  I’ve got STL containers showing me raw data I don’t care about in debug mode, and it makes it a pain to click through all those expandable lines to get to the data I actually want to see, and often I can’t even figure out how.  STL lists are a nightmare to debug though, for example.

    http://clang.llvm.org/docs/CrossCompilation.html

    It says there that clang is natively a cross-compiler, and does not require separate binaries for each architecture:

    In GCC world, every host/target combination has its own set of binaries, headers, libraries, etc. So, it’s usually simple to download a package with all files in, unzip to a directory and point the build system to that compiler, that will know about its location and find all it needs to when compiling your code.

    On the other hand, Clang/LLVM is natively a cross-compiler, meaning that one set of programs can compile to all targets by setting the <code class=”docutils literal”><span class=”pre”>-target</span> option. That makes it a lot easier for programmers wishing to compile to different platforms and architectures, and for compiler developers that only have to maintain one build system, and for OS distributions, that need only one set of main packages.

    I did that, but it still happens on occasion, such as after renaming and changing the type of row from “std::list<T>::iterator iter = thelist.begin();” to “uint8_t row = 0;”

    in the following statement

    for (uint8_t row = 0; row < size; row++);

    in “uint8_t row = 0;”  “row” still has that annoying highlighting and the same “Rename ‘iter’ to ‘row’ messages” in the lightbulb.

    Now that I think of it, its almost always after I rename something or do a paste-replace;

    The same thing as the first post happened in the following sequence:

    copy “void bar(int a)” from declaration of class Foo in Foo.h into Foo.cpp

    paste “Foo::” before bar in Foo.cpp

    then the annoying highlighting happens and the lightbulb thing shows up again, but the options are “Rename ‘bar’ to ‘Foo with preview'” and “Rename ‘bar’ to ‘Foo'” both of which clicking results in Clang Intellisense error “Entity name mismatch: ‘Foo::bar’ != ‘Foo'”

    The annoying highlighting also highlights function declarations with no implimentation.  Figured I’d mention that too.

    Yes, I am using latest version of the default ARM toolchain (arm-eabi-none) that shipped with VisualGDB.  The .rsp files are also do contain -std=c++11, but not -std=c99 or -std=c11.  It was from a c++ file so I’m assuming that’s normal?  I noticed that _GLIBCXX_USE_C99_MATH_TR1 and _GLIBCXX_USE_C99 are not defined in C:/SysGCC/arm-eabi/arm-eabi/include/c++/5.3.0/arm-eabi/thumb\bits/c++config.h, yet they are required to be defined for certain c++11 functions, such as the ones listed in the above post (see <cmath> and <cstdio>).  Does this mean that the default toolchain is incomplete or improperly configured?
