    Hello!

Using VirtualKD 2.5-2.7, I noticed that vmmon (both 32- and 64-bit) generates many (hundreds/thousands) page faults per second even if no debug messages are transmitted, debugger is not active and guest system is idle.

On the desktop with Q9550 and XP, 32-bit vmmon generates about 1000 PFs per second. On the notebook with T8300 and XP, 32-bit vmmon generates 300-500 PFs per second. On the notebook with i3 M380 and Win7 x64, 64-bit vmmon generates about 4000 PFs per second.

Is it normal? What may cause such extremely high PF rate?

These PF’s are not paging ones (pagefile size is fixed to be 16 Megabytes, just to create crash minidumps). There always are 1-3 Gigabytes free but VMMon always produces hundreds or thousands PF’s per second.
