SmarTTY works fine on wireless network, fails on wired network

I’ve run into a situation where SmarTTY worked fine with one laptop on both our wired and wireless networks. I’ve since moved to a new laptop and SmarTTY works fine on the wireless network, but hangs when on the wired network (it opens a window and prints a line or two, but never gives a command line prompt).

Would you be able to point me to a possible setting on the new laptop that might be causing this?
