I installed WinCDEmu 3.6 as an Administrative user on my Windows 7 PC.

But, when I try to run the “WinCDEmu Settings” from the Start Menu as a non-Administrative user, WinCDEmu starts to spawn the VMNT64.exe process indefinitely as quickly as it can. This results in 100+ “vmnt64.exe” entries in my Task Manager “Processes” list as well as significant system slow-down. I can’t close them quickly enough and I eventually have to log off to restore order to my computer.

This happens whether I click the Start Menu link (“vmnt64.exe /settings”), run the program files directly (“vmnt.exe” or “vmnt64.exe”), or click the “…” button in the mount dialog. I can mount images with no problem, but cannot edit the settings.

I don’t know if this relates to the forum topics about Explorer crashing or memory increasing, so I started a new topic.

    WinCDEmu need administrator rights.
You have the same problem on your admin user?

I can mount fine without Administrator rights. The UAC setting needs Administrator rights, but the “Drive letter policy” setting shouldn’t.

Shouldn’t that one option just give me an error when I try to set it instead of continuously spawning the vmnt64 processes?
