VisualGDB 5.3-trial Installer Hangs

I’ve tried several times now, but when I install VisualGDB v5.3-trial.msi, it hangs about 2/3rds of the way through and never completes. I gave it hours to see what would happen, but it is still stuck. Is there a log file I can look at to see what the problem could be? I tried using the ‘custom’ installer and only having it install the embedded edition for VS2017 with the same result. Any suggestions?

I was able to get the log by calling the installer with the /i* parameter. The log contents are below. Any idea what the issue could be?

Hi,

It looks like something inside the logic responsible for finding VS instances hangs. It’s hard to say what would be causing this, so we could only give some generic advice:

• See if msiexec.exe launches any other tools or tries to access some inaccessible paths or registry keys (using Process Monitor).
• Try reinstalling/uninstalling Visual Studio.
• Try completely uninstalling the previous version of VisualGDB and installing the new one. If this doesn’t help, try running the v5.2 installer and check if it hangs the same way.

Uninstalling/Reinstalling VisualGDB did the trick. After doing so, I had to rebuild the MSBuild file but that was pretty painless.
