real cds wont work after attempting mount

I was so pleased to find a virtual cd software that wasn’t ad supported or pay.  This is such an old school thing, mounting cd images, feels like it should be the easiest thing in the world.  I even thought about sending you guys a few bucks when I have it, just if it works really easily.

But then I created an image and for whatever reason, the game did not think it was a real CD.  Either because wincdemu saw that it was a CD in a DVD/CD drive and created a DVD format image rather than a CD format image?  And I was going to try it again and look for image creation options, except now I’ve found that the real CD doesn’t work!?!?!  I put it in and it won’t read it anymore and ejects it.  Presumably because wincdemu has not cleaned something up properly upon unmounting.  I will reboot and see if I can try again, but I am so far disappointed.
