Cant install or uninstall VisualGDB

I tried to install the latest VisualGDB but it fails with “Unknown Major VS version: 17” then shortly thereafter with “The specified account already exists”. It then rolls back the install.

I therefore tried to uninstall the current version but get exactly the same errors so now I am struck.

I am doing this as I keep falling foul of the “‘MICROSOFT.VISUALSTUDIO.PACKAGE.VARIANT'” error that continually pops up.

Can anyone help?

Hi,

This would happen if the previous VisualGDB version could not get uninstalled correctly. Please try uninstalling it manually first (see this page for troubleshooting instructions).

Once it is uninstalled, please try installing the latest VisualGDB 5.6 – it should work just fine.
