I stumbled upon WinCDEmu today because I was looking for a (preferably free) solution to mount ISO files in Windows. After installing, all seemed fine. I right clicked on an ISO file and the WinCDEmu window popped up.
Because I was in the middle of burning some ISO’s to CDRom, I right clicked on an ISO and chose “Open with Power2Go” which is what I use to burn ISOs. But instead of opening Power2Go, it opened the WinCDEmu again – even though this was still working a few minutes ago, before I installed WinCDEmu. So I immediately uninstalled WinCDEmu from Win 7’s “Programs and Features”. But after uninstalling, WinCDEmu was still displayed in the list of installed programs. When I chose “uninstall” again, Windows told me the program was already uninstalled and if I wanted to remove it from the list. I chose yes.
But now when I right click an ISO and chose “Open with Power2Go”, it still doesn’t open Power2Go. Instead it gives me the “Open With” window (because apparently, the context menu no longer points to Power2Go).
Fortunately Win7 automatically created a restore point just before installing WinCDEmu, so hopefully I will be able to roll back to a working system…
But needless to say, I’m not amused.
