WinCDEmu causes serious problems on install when the file associations it wants (.iso, .cue, etc.) are already taken by other software like Universal Extractor or unzipping programs. Instead of making its own registry key in HKCR and changing the file associations to reference that key, like most programs do, it will actually go to the already registered key, such as HKCRUniExtract or HKCRWinZip, and edit …shellopen to reference WinCDEmu instead of the original program. This means that now EVERY file extension associated with those programs (such as .zip!) will try to open in WinCDEmu!

The strangest part is that WinCDEmu appears to be using some other trick (HKCU…ExplorerFileExts ?) to associate itself with these file extensions anyway, since deleting (for example) the .iso registry key leaves .iso files associated with the program. There is absolutely no reason to be editing the registry keys of other programs.

Please fix this disruptive and nonstandard behavior, and associate files like a normal program.

And uninstalling WinCDEmu does not work, let alone fix the broken file associations.

This software is an eff-ing rubbish.
