How long can an ethernet cable be before a 5 volt output voltage drops below 1.8 volts? I think the parallel port on a PC can detect a voltage above 1.8 volts. If you connect a 5v output pin through a length of ethernet cable, through a switch then back to an input pin, how long can the ethernet cable be before the computer fails to detect the pushed button?
